I have copy and pasted the interview I did with Fashion Council WA. You can view the original interview on the Fashion Council WA website here.
We recently shot the 2015 Swim + Resort Series campaign with beach babe Millicent Lambert from Vivien’s Model Management. The WA raised model has been making waves in Australia and overseas, and won International Model of the Year at the WA Fashion Awards earlier this year.
We stole 5 minutes of Millicent’s time to chat about the campaign shoot, summer in WA, stand up paddle boarding, and her summer essentials!
What was your favourite moment of shooting the 2015 Swim + Resort Series campaign?
I had so much fun all day! I loved working by and on the beach on such a beautiful, sunny day. I did especially love the end of the day; it was fun playing on the stand up paddleboard and surfboard.
During the shoot we found out you could stand up paddleboard. How long have you been doing this and what got you into it?
I really love stand up paddle boarding. A couple of months ago my boyfriend bought me a stand up paddleboard as a gift. I’ve been practicing on the dam at his place ever since. My dogs love it almost as much as I do!
Millicent wears Gypsea bikini. Surfboard from Dave Muir Paddle School.
You’ve travelled around the world with modelling. Is it true that WA still has some of the best beaches in the world?
WA has the best beaches I’ve ever seen; I always miss them when I’m away. You just don’t get blue seas and white sand like you do here anywhere else.
It’s also said that WA had some of the most beautiful women. What do you think it is that sets us Western Australian’s apart from the rest of the world?
WA women are beautiful in a very understated beach babe way. The women here tend to have such a carefree and down to earth attitude that makes them ooze confidence and beauty.
What do you love most about summer in WA?
I love a good Sunday sesh; you can’t beat cocktails in the warm, afternoon sun.
Where are your favourite WA summer spots?
I love it down south in Margaret River and Dunsborough; it’s so relaxed down there!
What are three summer essentials that you couldn’t live without?
1. My iPod for tunes on the beach.
2. Sunscreen to prevent sunburn and premature ageing.
3. Cats eye sunglasses; stylish and not squinting all summer is a bonus!
Take us through your typical summer day.
I wake up quite early, walk the dogs, have a fresh breakfast and go to the beach for a bit of a morning swim. Head out to a nice winery for lunch and then an afternoon stand up paddleboard at the beach or in the dam. Have a bit of a rest to recover and then out for dinner and drinks at a friend’s house.
What is your go-to, off duty summer outfit?
A plain white tee with ripped up, high waisted denim shorts and simple sneakers, or a little summer dress and sandals. Easy and sweet.
What trend are you most looking forward to this summer?
One piece swimsuits. I think they are so classy. A black one piece is basically a staple for everyone’s swim wardrobe. It’s sexy, classy and elegant. It also isn’t too revealing so it keeps a bit of mystery there!
What do you think people should remember when buying swimwear this summer?
I think you should be swimwear that you feel comfortable and sexy in while also being practical. It’s not a good look to lose your bikini top in the surf.
